Anders Andersen, MA, LMHC

Though I've always been considered an optimist, for much of my life, true Happiness was elusive, hiding amidst the lies and self-doubts which became part of my life story. And then I started asking myself different questions which helped to clarify my struggles.

Being a counselor is an extension of my caring inner persona. Genuine curiosity about people and a nurturing, supportive presence have been my most useful tools. My clinical training comes from many years of study, having earned masters degrees in both Psychology (University of Arizona) and Mental Health Counseling (Argosy University).

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington. I have a holistic approach to health, and consider the mind-body-spirit connection to be essential in a person's overall wellness. Strength-based counseling, focusing on health rather than illness, is an essential part of this approach. My experience working with people covers a wide range of issues, including:

  • Depression, Bipolar disorder, anxiety, fears and loneliness
  • Excessive anger, frustration or guilt
  • Grief, loss and bereavement issues
  • Constant worries or obsessions
  • Social anxieties
  • Developmental issues, including ADHD
  • Problems with food, alcohol or other drug use
  • Changes or potential life changes
  • Problems following an abusive or a traumatic event
  • Communication problems
  • Marital, parenting, employment or relationship problems
  • Health or sleep problems
  • Crises that involve self-harming behavior, a risk of violence or the risk of suicide

As a musician and teacher, I used to suffer from severe performance anxiety, or stage fright. Now I speak publicly and lecture with confidence on a number of subjects, and enjoy performing regularly for audiences of up to a thousand people. Whether it's public speaking, teaching or performing arts, I can help you tame your butterflies so you can begin having fun in the spotlight.
